Tuniyaz Osman (图尼亚孜·奥斯曼), also rendered Tuniyaizi·Osman or Tuniyazi·Aosiman in different English-language records, is a Uyghur writer and former court official from Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang. Rights Defense Network / 维权网 Issue 131 dated August 31, 2026 lists him among reported in-custody cases in the fifteen-year fixed-term subgroup.
Chinese Human Rights Defenders’ prisoner-of-conscience database reports that Osman was born in 1965 in Baicheng County, Aksu Prefecture, graduated from Xinjiang University’s law department in 1988, and worked at the Aksu Intermediate Court. It also reports that he was removed from judicial work after defending detainees following the 2009 Ürümchi unrest.
The database and CPPC report that Osman was detained in September 2016 and later sentenced to fifteen years in prison on charges that were not publicly reported. The CHRD database gives September 2031 as the end of the term.
Status and evidence limits
The sources disagree on Osman’s exact senior court title, so this profile does not state one. His current detention facility is also uncertain: one source suspects Aksu Prison while another lists the location as unknown. No independently obtained court judgment or official detention record was located.
