Wang Minghai (王明海) is a teacher from Wuhu, Anhui Province, reported to be associated with Xuande School and Mount Carmel Church. Rights Defense Network / 维权网 lists him in its Issue 131 roster dated August 31, 2026.
Reported case history. ChinaAid, 民生观察, Christianity Daily, and International Christian Concern report that Wang was arrested on May 27, 2021 during the Xuande School case, formally arrested in August 2021 on suspicion of “illegal business operations,” and later tried separately in January 2023. ChinaAid reports that he returned home on January 12, 2023 under residential surveillance at a designated residence.
Status note: Issue 131 lists Wang among reported in-custody cases as of August 31, 2026, but the most recent independent case reporting located says he returned home in January 2023 and no re-detention was found. His current status is therefore unclear; this page does not present current custody as independently confirmed.
