Eight pastors and co-workers connected to Beijing Zion Church remained in custody in Guangxi as of September 2026, according to reports based on interviews with Pastor Ezra Jin Mingri and information from ChinaAid.
The eight are Wang Lin, Gao Yingjia, Wang Zhong, Yin Huibin, Liu Zhenbin, Lin Shucheng, Wang Cong and Wu Qiuyu. Christian Post reported that they were being held at the Beihai No. 2 Detention Center.
Jin was detained on October 10, 2025 and released on July 3, 2026 after 266 days, according to the cited interviews. His release did not end the cases of the eight other church leaders and co-workers.
A September 28 Christian Post report, citing ChinaAid, said the eight remained in custody as of September 10 on allegations described as fraud and illegal business operations. Those are charge descriptions reported by the source; they are not convictions.
The continuing detentions deserve independent scrutiny, access to counsel and family contact, and transparent information about each person’s legal status and health. Religious practice and peaceful church organization should not be criminalized through opaque or pretextual proceedings.
