This archive collects the media record of the case of Zhang Yanxia (张艳霞), a Falun Gong practitioner from Heishan County, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. Arrested at her home on the morning of June 3, 2025, during a Liaoning-wide police sweep, she was held at the Jinzhou City Detention Center and sentenced by the Heishan County Court to five years in prison, with transfer to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison scheduled for mid-December 2025. The Rights Defense Network lists her as a current in-custody political prisoner (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) in its five-year sentence group. Her case is documented by two Minghui.org reports (June and December 2025) and by the Rights Defense Network’s Issue 131 roster in both Chinese and English editions.

Source provenance

Minghui.org is a Falun Gong community publication that reports detentions and prosecutions of practitioners. It is a partisan source: its articles present detentions as persecution and reflect the Falun Gong community’s perspective. The case facts below should be read as reported by that publication, not as independently verified findings.

The Rights Defense Network (维权网) monthly report is a systematic roster published monthly; Issue 131 (August 31, 2026) lists 1,638 reported current-custody political prisoners and prisoners of conscience grouped by sentence length. It corroborates the five-year sentence independently of Minghui.

Chronological media record

June 2–3, 2025 — the sweep. Minghui reports that, on orders from the Liaoning Provincial Public Security Bureau, police in Jinzhou City arrested at least 36 Falun Gong practitioners in Jinzhou and its subordinate counties, using vehicle trackers and surveillance in the weeks before.

June 3, 2025, ~9–10 a.m. — arrest. In Heishan County, officers from the Heishan Police Station broke into Ms. Zhang’s home and arrested her, confiscating her printer and supplies. Fellow Heishan practitioner Ms. Xu Yue was arrested at about the same time. Both were held at the Jinzhou City Women’s Detention Center.

2025 — sentencing. The Heishan County Court sentenced Ms. Zhang to five years and Ms. Xu to two and a half years, Minghui reports, in a closed proceeding. The two were scheduled to be transferred to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison in mid-December 2025.

August 31, 2026 — roster classification. The Rights Defense Network’s Issue 131 monthly report lists 张艳霞 in its 判刑5年,111人 (sentenced to 5 years, 111 people) group; the English edition confirms “Zhang Yanxia” in the parallel band.
