Zhu Enhua (朱恩华)

Zhu Enhua (朱恩华) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Yunnan Province, China, serving an eight-year prison sentence. She has been detained twice for her faith: first in 2010, when she was arrested in Kunming and sentenced to four years; and again in 2021, when she was arrested in Qujing and sentenced to eight years in 2022. She was born around 1977; few biographical details beyond her case record have been reported publicly. The Rights Defense Network’s (维权网) monthly political-prisoners report (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists her in its 8-year-sentence band, confirming she remains in custody serving her term as of that date.

The case

On October 3, 2021, more than ten plainclothes officers entered Zhu’s home in Qujing City, Yunnan Province, and conducted a full search of the family’s five-story apartment building, looking for Falun Gong materials. Zhu, her mother Yang Shuzhen (杨树珍), and her father Zhu Junjian, 75, were taken to the Baijiang Detention Center; the father was released two days later. Zhu was held in the Luoping County Detention Center and her mother in the Huize County Detention Center.

In March 2022, the Qujing City Court sentenced Zhu to eight years in prison and her mother to four years. Both appealed the verdicts; the appeal outcomes have not been reported.

Earlier targeting

On April 12, 2010, Zhu, then 33, was visiting fellow practitioner Wang Shulan in Kunming’s Xishan District when police officers from the Xishan Police Sub-Bureau and the Xishan District Domestic Security Brigade detained her. After Falun Gong materials were found in her purse, officers also searched her home. On November 3, 2010, the Kunming Intermediate Court tried Zhu alongside Wang Shulan, Yang Gongxiu, and Wu Qifen. Zhu was later sentenced to four years in prison by the Kunming City Court.

Status and evidentiary limits

As of August 31, 2026, the Rights Defense Network’s Issue 131 report lists Zhu Enhua in its 8-year-sentence band with an in-custody classification. No release date has been stated in any public source; none is given here. The case details come from Minghui.org, an independent Chinese-language media outlet focused on Falun Gong cases, corroborated in part by an investigative report from the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong. No court judgment copy, no official Chinese government source, and no other independent media coverage of her case has been located — details reported by these outlets, including dates of arrest and sentencing, detention facilities, and family details, have not been independently verified. A Minghui custody list dated March 26, 2026, “At Least 23 Falun Gong Practitioners Still Held in Yunnan Province Second Women’s Prison,” lists Zhu Enhua among 23 practitioners still held there, serving an eight-year term — the latest dated custody evidence — but describes her as “around 35” and gives a term ending October 2031, inconsistent with the dated earlier reports (45 at sentencing in 2022; sentenced March 2022); those figures are treated as list-data errors. No release date or sentence-completion date is stated here, and her conditions in custody have not been independently verified. She must not be merged with Zhu Yufu (a different case), or with Wu Qifen, Wang Shulan, or Yang Gongxiu (co-defendants in the 2010 case — distinct persons), or with her mother Yang Shuzhen (杨树珍) or father Zhu Junjian (distinct persons).
