Fu Wenjie (付文杰) — Person Profile

Fu Wenjie (付文杰), a 66-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Linghai City, Jinzhou, Liaoning Province, was detained on June 2, 2025, and sentenced on December 4, 2025, by the Linghai City Court to five years and six months in prison with a 10,000-yuan fine; the Jinzhou Intermediate Court rejected her appeal on April 1, 2026, and her family learned on May 22, 2026, that she had been transferred to the Liaoning Women’s Prison to serve her term. The Rights Defense Network’s (维权网) monthly political-prisoners report (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists her in its five-years-and-six-months (判刑5年6个月,34人) sentence band, confirming she remains in custody serving her term as of that date.

The case

On the afternoon of June 2, 2025, when Fu Wenjie’s husband returned home from work, more than twenty plainclothes officers waiting in the stairwell forced their way into the family home and searched it, along with the family’s shop, garage, and storage shed, seizing computers and Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. She was taken to a special-police unit for interrogation, given a medical examination the next afternoon, and then held at the Jinzhou Women’s Detention Center. In early July, officers from the Shishan police station in Linghai informed her husband that she had been formally arrested.

On August 8, 2025, her case was transferred to the Linghai City Procuratorate. When her family’s lawyer went to the procuratorate to review the file on August 14, he was told it had already been moved to the Linghai City Court — which in turn said the case had not yet been filed and refused access. She was tried on November 10, 2025. On December 4, 2025, the Linghai City Court sentenced her to five years and six months, with a 10,000-yuan fine. She appealed. Without a public hearing, the Jinzhou Intermediate Court upheld the verdict on April 1, 2026. On May 22, 2026, her family learned she had been transferred to the Liaoning Women’s Prison.

The details above were reported by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), an advocacy organization, in a case notice dated January 4, 2026 (updated May 24, 2026). The sentencing has not been reported in any official Chinese court record located; verdicts in Falun Gong cases are not publicly disclosed by Chinese courts.

All detention, trial, and sentencing details are attributed to WOIPFG reporting; no official Chinese court record of the verdict was located, and there is no independently verifiable record of her current health or conditions of detention. No sentence end date is stated by any source. Fu Wenjie (付文杰) is distinct from Fu Renjiang (付仁江), a separate individual who appears beside her on the same custody roster under the same sentence band; they should not be confused.
