Yang Liyan (杨丽艳)
Yang Liyan is a resident of Songyuan City in Jilin Province and a practitioner of Falun Gong. She is reported serving a ten-year prison sentence.
Ms. Yang, who lived in the Hongguang Farm’s No. 6 Team area of Songyuan, was taken away by Songyuan public-security officers on September 10, 2019, in a coordinated detention of local Falun Gong practitioners, according to reporting by Minghui, a Falun Gong-affiliated news service. Her husband, Chen Hailin, who does not practice Falun Gong, was also detained and had his home searched; Minghui reports that he was later released.
She was held at the Shanyou Detention Center in Songyuan. After more than a year in custody, the Qianguo’erluosi Court sentenced her to ten years in prison, and she was transferred to Jilin Prison on December 4, 2020, according to Minghui’s case record. The formal charge is not stated in the records located. The Rights Defense Network’s monthly report of mainland political prisoners and prisoners of conscience (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists Yang Liyan among reported in-custody prisoners in its fixed-term ten-year group, and the prisoners-of-conscience database records a release date of September 9, 2029.
