Yu Jingtao / 于静涛 — Political Prisoner Profile

Yu Jingtao (于静涛) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Weihai City in Shandong Province, currently serving a six-year prison sentence imposed in June 2026. She is about 56 years old.

On the morning of October 27, 2025, Yu was at a rented dwelling in Changfeng Village, in Weihai’s Jing District, assembling desktop calendars carrying Falun Gong messages together with fellow practitioners Ding Huimin and Xiao Bo. Officers of the Jing District Domestic Security Office arrested all three and seized the calendars and other Falun Gong materials; the three were placed under criminal detention. A month later, on November 27, 2025, the same office arrested practitioner Wang Deshui. The four cases were consolidated and sent to the Rongcheng City Court, which tried them on April 23, 2026. On June 2, 2026, the court sentenced all four: Yu Jingtao to six years in prison; Wang Deshui to three and a half years; Xiao Bo to three years; and Ding Huimin to one year. The specific criminal charge and Yu’s current place of incarceration have not been publicly reported; a prisoners-of-conscience database records her term as ending in October 2031.

This was not Yu’s first detention for her faith. In 2006 she was placed in three years of reeducation through labor. On October 6, 2014, she was detained in Rushan while posting Falun Gong materials; the Rushan City Court tried her on June 1, 2015 and sentenced her on July 10, 2015 to four and a half years in prison. Reporting on her earlier detentions describes torture and mistreatment in custody.

Identity note: Yu Jingtao’s case is documented under the Chinese name 于静涛 by a prisoners-of-conscience database, Falun Gong-affiliated reporting, and an overseas investigation notice covering the same four-person case. Co-defendants’ accounts are documented separately; no individual is merged with another.
