Chen Shigui (陈世贵) — Political Prisoner Profile

Chen Shigui (陈世贵), a man from Jinniu District in Chengdu, Sichuan, is a Falun Gong practitioner serving a seven-and-a-half-year prison sentence handed down in late 2020.

Detention and trial

On July 10, 2019, Chen was visiting the home of a friend, Mao Kun, together with fellow practitioners Du Rong (杜荣) and Zhang Zhenhua (张珍华), when officers from the Jinniu District branch state-security police and the Chadianzi police station took them into custody, according to the Prisoners of Conscience database record and a Minghui report on the case.

On December 28, 2020, the Chengdu Jinniu District Court tried Chen together with Mao Kun, Du Rong, and Zhang Zhenhua. The court sentenced Chen to seven years and six months in prison and imposed a 6,000-yuan fine. All four defendants appealed in court. In early July 2021, the families received the second-instance judgment from the Chengdu Intermediate Court upholding the sentences of Chen, Du Rong, and Zhang Zhenhua; the appeal had been decided without a new hearing. (Mao Kun died in custody in April 2021, according to the same report.)

As of August 2026, he was listed among the mainland prisoners classified as currently in custody. No release has been reported.
