Person profile: Li Chaoran (李超然)
This archive preserves the documented source record behind the Li Chaoran (李超然) profile, born 1995, known as Cathy — detained in the wake of the 2022 “blank paper” protest movement. Entries are ordered by publication date. Allegations remain attributed rather than stated as fact.
Case chronology

- January 6, 2023 — Li disappears; she may have been formally approved for arrest by the procuratorate (the uncertainty is reported as such).
- January 21, 2023 — The Rights Defense Network’s information center publishes a case report (“因’白纸抗议运动’遭抓捕仍被羁押的李超然女士的相关信息”), establishing her name, nickname Cathy, birth year 1995, education, Beijing employment, the guarantor story, and the suspected arrest.

Limitations and contradictions
There is no independently corroborated record of Li Chaoran’s whereabouts or charges after early 2023; the 2026 roster listing (detained without trial) is the most recent dated custody evidence. No trial or sentence has been reported. All detention facts are reported through the Rights Defense Network and CHRD and remain attributed. An RFA Mandarin link on the CHRD record could not be read in this research pass (domain inaccessible) and is not relied on. The two Minghui reports (2001, 2013) about an elderly female military physician named “Li Chaoran” describe a different person and must not be attached to this case; they are preserved only as identity-disambiguation evidence. No PRC official or state-media reporting on this case was found; no consular involvement applies (mainland-citizen case).
