Person profile: Wang Junping (王军平) — Political Prisoner Profile
This archive preserves the source chronology for the case of Wang Junping (王军平), a rights defender from Luquan district, Shijiazhuang, Hebei, born December 25, 1968. It is maintained as a record of what sources report about her petitioning and detention; where sources conflict or leave gaps, that is noted. This archive concerns the Hebei case only — a different person from Wang Junping (王君平) of Beijing.
Source chronology
- 2008–2015: Petitioning. According to the Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) Prisoners of Conscience database record, Wang began petitioning in 2008 after workers in her employ were beaten without cause into serious injury. She traveled to the Zhongnanhai area of Beijing to petition thirteen times and was detained five times in that period.
- July 2015: Township-government petition and reported beating. The CHRD record states that Wang went to her township government to petition; when the township head had his driver leave, she stood in front of the car demanding an answer, and the driver beat her.
- September 2015: Criminal detention. The CHRD record states that Wang was lured back home from a relative’s house in September 2015 and criminally detained on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” (寻衅滋事罪), and was subsequently prosecuted.
- May 6, 2016: Court hearing. The case was heard in court on May 6, 2016; the record reports no verdict (“未判决”).
- October 29, 2015 – October 28, 2017: Custody and release. Wang was placed under compulsory measures on October 29, 2015, and completed her sentence and was released on October 28, 2017, according to the CHRD record. The sentence length and detention location are not stated in the record.
- Administrative case (unverified). The CHRD record cites an administrative judgment, 《王军平与石家庄市鹿泉区公安局公安行政管理:治安管理(治安)一审行政判决书》(chinalawyer.co), concerning Wang and the Luquan District Public Security Bureau. Its contents could not be independently verified for this archive; it is listed as further reading pending verification.
Evidentiary notes and limitations
- The beating of Wang’s workers, the July 2015 beating by the township head’s driver, and the circumstances of the September 2015 detention are reported in the CHRD case narrative; they are allegations from the petition record, not independently verified findings.
- A 2026 roster of mainland political prisoners lists Wang Junping without case detail, which is inconsistent with the recorded 2017 release. No detention after 2017 has been documented. The archive does not resolve this discrepancy; her current status is unverified.
