Wang Shuhua (王淑华) — Political Prisoner Profile

Wang Shuhua (王淑华) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Songyuan City, Jilin Province, reported to have been sentenced to nine years in prison.

On September 13, 2017, Wang’s husband, Li Guojun, was seized by officers of the Minkang Road police station in Changchun while at a fellow practitioner’s apartment. On the morning of October 12, 2017, Wang and her elder sister Wang Shufen went to the Minkang Road police station to demand Li’s release; both women were detained. Her sister was released on the evening of October 13, while Wang was kept in custody. In late December 2017 she was formally arrested.

In February 2018, a lawyer retained by the family attempted to visit Wang at the Songyuan Detention Center. The detention center refused the meeting, and when the lawyer went to the Songyuan Justice Bureau to raise the matter, officials told him that “non-party members are not allowed normal visits” — an account attributed to the reporting. Wang was subsequently reported to have been sentenced to nine years in prison, the charge unspecified, and was transferred to the Lan Jia Women’s Prison (Jilin Provincial Women’s Prison) on June 4, 2018.

The Rights Defense Network’s monthly report on political prisoners and prisoners of conscience (August 31, 2026, Issue 131) lists Wang Shuhua as a prisoner in custody, in the nine-year sentence group. A prisoner-of-conscience database entry records the nine-year term through October 11, 2026.
