Zhan Xinyuan (占新元)
Zhan Xinyuan (占新元) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Macheng, Hubei Province, who was living in Huiyang District, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province when she was detained in October 2022 and subsequently sentenced to three years and six months’ imprisonment.

Born in Macheng City, Hubei Province, Zhan Xinyuan was a resident of Huiyang District in Huizhou, Guangdong, where she practiced Falun Gong. She was 47 years old at the time of her sentencing in 2023.
Detention and trial
According to Minghui’s case record, Zhan was taken into custody in mid-October 2022 and held at the Huiyang Detention Center in Huizhou. She was tried by the Huicheng District People’s Court in Huizhou in early 2023, and in mid-April 2023 the court sentenced her to three years and six months’ imprisonment.
