Zhang Renguang (张仁光), born 1955, is a resident of Shahekou District in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, and a practitioner of Falun Gong. According to the Prisoners of Conscience database maintained by the Chinese Human Rights Defenders network, he was seized by police on June 11, 2017, together with Wang Shangjie, Han Jianhai, and Li Jingbo, in connection with the distribution of Falun Gong materials. His home was searched.
On May 30, 2018, the Shahekou District People’s Court in Dalian tried the four practitioners and sentenced Zhang to nine years and six months in prison, with a fine (recorded as 10,000 yuan in the CHRD database and 20,000 yuan in Minghui reporting). Zhang, Wang Shangjie, and Han Jianhai appealed to the Dalian Intermediate People’s Court, which upheld the verdicts without a hearing. On September 6, 2018, Zhang and the two co-defendants were transferred to the Liaonan New Inmates Prison. A later Minghui report dated October 15, 2024, states that he was being held in the First Ward of Shenyang No. 1 Prison.
Minghui’s victim record also notes that Zhang was previously detained at the Dalian labor camp in November–December 2000.
The Rights Defense Network’s monthly report on political prisoners (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists Zhang Renguang among those sentenced to nine years and six months; the CHRD record gives his sentence term as ending December 10, 2026.
