Zhang Rong (张蓉)

Zhang Rong (张蓉) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Lanxi City in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. According to the Prisoners of Conscience database maintained by the Chinese Human Rights Defenders network, she was seized by police in October 2024 after speaking to members of the public about Falun Gong. She was held at the Jinhua Bailongqiao Detention Center, placed under criminal detention, and then formally arrested and prosecuted.

In August 2025, a local court sentenced Zhang to two years and eight months in prison with a 25,000-yuan fine. The charge was not stated in the records reviewed. Her sentence term runs to June 2027.

The Rights Defense Network’s monthly report on political prisoners (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists Zhang Rong among those sentenced to two years and eight months.
