Zhang Ximei (张喜梅）
Zhang Ximei (张喜梅）, born in 1967, is a retired worker from Baoding, Hebei Province, who practices Falun Gong. She is currently serving a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence.
Arrest and detention
On April 9, 2024, Zhang Ximei was taken from her home by officers of the Tianwei police station under the Jingxiu district public security branch in Baoding, and her home was searched, according to a report by Minghui, a Falun Gong-affiliated news outlet. She was subsequently held at the Baoding City Detention Center. The Jingxiu district procuratorate approved her formal arrest in late May 2024, and her case was transferred to the Gaoyang County procuratorate.
Trial and sentence
On November 13, 2024, the Gaoyang County Court tried Zhang Ximei at the Baoding City Detention Center. Judge Li Zhiyong presided; prosecutor Yang Fan appeared for the prosecution. Zhang Ximei pleaded not guilty, and her lawyer and a family defender argued for her acquittal.
