Zhang Zhijiang (张志江) is a man from Xiaoshitou Fenjinqiao Village, Wujia Town, Yuanbaoshan District, Chifeng City, in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. He is a Falun Gong practitioner recorded as being held in custody; the latest dated record, a monthly roster of political and conscience prisoners published August 31, 2026, lists him among those currently detained.
According to a case record in the Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) prisoners-of-conscience database and an investigation notice issued by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong, on the evening of March 31, 2018, Zhang was detained at Dashuiqing Village in Kalaqin Banner, Chifeng, by officers of the Louzidian police station of Shijia Manchu Township. The next morning, police searched his home and took Falun Gong books. He was held at the Kalaqin Banner Jinshan detention center.
The Kalaqin Banner public security bureau transferred his case to the banner procuratorate, which prosecuted him. The investigation notice reports that the stated basis for the prosecution was his practicing Falun Gong and hanging Falun Gong banners. On August 1, 2018, the Kalaqin Banner court tried him; the notice reports that he entered a not-guilty plea in court, and that the court sentenced him. The length of the sentence and the formal criminal charge have not been publicly reported. The CHRD record lists his place of detention as Chifeng Prison in Inner Mongolia.
Weiquanwang Information Center’s monthly roster of political and conscience prisoners lists 张志江 among those in custody in its issue dated August 31, 2026. The report’s stated practice is to remove from the list anyone who has been released; no release record for Zhang Zhijiang has been found. The exact sentence length, the current prison, and the formal charge remain unverified in public sources.
