Zheng Yuming (郑玉明)
Zheng Yuming (郑玉明), born 1957, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Dehui City, Changchun, Jilin Province. He was detained in February 2023 and sentenced in January 2024 to seven years in prison. He is held at Jilin Prison.
Zheng began practicing Falun Gong in June 1999. According to prisoner-case records, he was detained multiple times and sent to re-education-through-labor after 1999 for persisting in the practice. He ran a small shoe shop in Dehui with his wife.
On February 25, 2023, police officers from the Dajiagou Police Station of the Dehui City Public Security Bureau detained Zheng and his wife at their shoe shop and searched their home, seizing a computer, a printer, and Falun Gong books. Both were taken away; his wife was subsequently released. Zheng was held at the Dehui City Detention Center, placed under criminal detention, approved for arrest, and indicted.
On January 4, 2024, the Dehui City Court sentenced Zheng to seven years’ imprisonment. The formal charge was not stated in the available records. He was then transferred to Jilin Prison (Jilin No. 2 Prison) in Jilin City to serve the sentence, which is recorded as running to February 24, 2030.
His case is also listed in the August 31, 2026 mainland-China political and conscience prisoners’ monthly report (Issue 131) compiled by 维权网 (Chinese Human Rights Defenders network), which places him among the 86 people listed in the seven-year sentence category.
