Zheng Yunmei (郑允美)
Zheng Yunmei (郑允美) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Wulian County, Rizhao City, Shandong Province. She is recorded as one of the mainland political prisoners documented in the August 2026 human-rights roster.
Case facts
- On October 10, 2022, Zheng Yunmei and fellow practitioner Li Fengying were detained by police while speaking with residents about Falun Gong in Daguo Village, Wulian County. Police subsequently searched their homes, seizing books, a printer, a laptop computer and other items.
- Three more practitioners — Wang Shihua, Wang Hongwu, and Yang Mingzhen (a practitioner from Weifang living away from home) — were also detained. All five were interrogated and then held at the Rizhao City Detention Center.
- On April 28, 2023, the Wulian County Court held the first hearing for the five; two defense lawyers argued for acquittal, challenging the prosecution’s evidence and describing procedural irregularities in the police searches.
- On May 8, 2023, the court held a second hearing. On May 15, 2023, the court announced sentences: Li Fengying — 8 years and a 20,000-yuan fine; Wang Hongwu — 4 years 6 months and an 8,000-yuan fine; Yang Mingzhen — 4 years and a 10,000-yuan fine; Zheng Yunmei — 4 years and an 8,000-yuan fine; Wang Shihua — 1 year 6 months and a 5,000-yuan fine.
- The formal charge under which Zheng was convicted is not publicly documented. Her place of detention after sentencing is not documented.
