Zhu Suzhen (朱素贞)
Zhu Suzhen is a Falun Gong practitioner from Zhuxin Village in Wangji Township, Fucheng County, Hengshui City, Hebei Province. Born in 1954, she was arrested in July 2023 at the age of about 69 and was later reported to have been sentenced to five years in prison.
On the morning of July 5, 2023, Zhu was at a market in Wangjiacun, Xiakou Township, Fucheng County, talking with shoppers about Falun Gong when police from the Xiakou police station took her into custody, according to reports by Falun Gong-affiliated monitoring groups. Two other practitioners present that day, Wang Heyun and Han Fuyu, were detained at the same time. Police searched Zhu's home the same day.
Zhu was first held at the Fucheng County Detention Center and transferred to the Hengshui City Detention Center on July 20, 2023. Her case moved through the Fucheng County police to the Fucheng County procuratorate and then to the Jing County procuratorate, which filed charges with the Jing County Court. On March 1, 2024, the Jing County Court in Hengshui tried all three practitioners together. Reports citing sources close to the case say Zhu received a five-year sentence; the formal charge was not disclosed in any available report. She was sent to serve her sentence at a women's prison in Hebei — one monitoring notice names the Hebei Province Women's Prison, while a case record updated in October 2024 lists Shijiazhuang Prison with a projected release date of July 5, 2028.
The sentence report has not been confirmed by any court judgment or official document located to date, and independent corroboration beyond Falun Gong-affiliated monitoring sources has not been found. The charge against Zhu remains unreported.
