Zhuang Xiankun (庄显坤) — Person Profile

Zhuang Xiankun (庄显坤)

Zhuang Xiankun is a Falun Gong practitioner from Changchun, Jilin Province, currently serving a six-year prison sentence. He is listed among the 1,638 in-custody political prisoners and prisoners of conscience documented in the August 31, 2026 issue 131 prisoner census published by the Rights Defense Network (维权网).

Zhuang and his wife, Han Yingli (韩英丽), were employees of the Changchun Automobile Factory. Their case history spans more than two decades of repeated detentions related to their Falun Gong practice.

Earlier persecution (as reported by Minghui): In October–December 1999, Zhuang traveled to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was detained for 15 days. In February 2000, he was detained at his workplace by Changchun police and subsequently sentenced to one year of re-education through labor, which he served at the Changchun Chaoyanggou and Fenjin labor camps.

On March 5, 2002, eight channels of the Changchun cable television network aired Falun Gong-related video programs for over fifty minutes — an incident that drew an intense official response. Zhuang, identified as a participant in the television interception, was sentenced in September 2002 by the Changchun Intermediate People's Court to 11 years in prison, which he served at the Siping Shiling Prison in Jilin Province.

Current detention: On the morning of February 24, 2023, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Zhuang and his wife were taken from their home by police from the Xixin Police Station of Luyuan District, Changchun. They were first held at the Jiutai Detention Center, then transferred on March 4, 2023, to the Weizigou Detention Center in Changchun, where lawyers were consistently barred from visiting them.

In October 2023 it was learned that Zhuang had been sentenced to six years in prison, with his term running through February 23, 2029. The charge against him and his current place of detention have not been reported. His wife Han Yingli's situation following their 2023 detention is unclear; she had previously served a five-year sentence in the Jilin Women's Prison related to her own Falun Gong practice.
