Sui Lixian (隋丽先), a retired teacher and Falun Gong practitioner living in Yanjiao, Sanhe City, Hebei Province, was seized at home in May 2023 and sentenced to three years and four months that October. Born in 1952 and a native of Heilongjiang, she had lived in Yanjiao for more than a decade, according to accounts compiled by the prisoner-monitoring database of Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) and by the Falun Gong–affiliated outlet Minghui.
On the afternoon of May 14, 2023, officers of the Sanhe public-security domestic-security unit together with the Yanjiao Xinggong East police station entered her home, searched it, and took her — along with two visiting practitioners, who were released the next day — to the Xinggong East police station, the reports say. The account describes the seizure as triggered by a banner she had hung for the Falun Gong commemorative date of May 13, identified through surveillance footage. She was moved to the Sanhe detention center the following day; the arrest was approved roughly ten days later. In late July 2023 the case was submitted to the Sanhe Procuratorate, and in September it reached the Sanhe City Court, which sentenced her in October 2023 to three years and four months. No formal charge has been reported. She was subsequently transferred to prison, reported to be the Hebei Provincial Women’s Prison.
Minghui’s account says Sui had been detained before: in January 2013 she was among eight practitioners seized in Yanjiao while reading Falun Gong writings to a seriously ill visitor, and was later held at a “brainwashing center” in Langfang. These earlier events are single-ecosystem accounts and are presented here as reported, not independently verified.
What is not known: the reported sentence term ran to September 13, 2026. Her release after that date has not been confirmed by any available source, and the most recent roster listing (August 31, 2026) still placed her among prisoners in custody. This profile therefore does not state whether she is currently detained or released.
Identity note: Her surname 隋 (Suí) is not interchangeable with 苏 (Sū) or 孙 (Sūn); she is not to be merged with any Su- or Sun-surname detainee.
