Xu Lina (徐丽娜) — Media Profile & Archive
This archive gathers the available media and documentation on the case of Xu Lina (徐丽娜), a Falun Gong practitioner from Yongji County, Jilin, reported to be serving a six-year prison sentence at the Jilin Provincial Women’s Prison. The record below preserves what each source establishes, its provenance, and the limits of what is known.
Chronology of reported events
- 1999–2020. A March 2023 case report states that Xu, born April 1973, began practicing Falun Gong in the 1990s and that she was repeatedly visited and harassed by local police after the 1999 ban — including the seizure of her Falun Gong books.
- May 19, 2020. The report describes Xu being taken to a police station after speaking with a passerby on the street, then released.
- September 3, 2020. Officers from the Chengnan police station came to her home and attempted to force entry, according to the report.
- December 17, 2020. Xu was detained after a taxi driver reported her for speaking with him about Falun Gong, the report states; police from the Chengnan station intercepted her, and she was sent to the Jilin City detention center. This date is also recorded in the CHRD prisoner database.
- March 2023. The family learned she had been sentenced to six years in prison and transferred to the Jilin Provincial Women’s Prison. CHRD’s database records the six-year sentence and a term ending December 16, 2026.
- August 31, 2026. The Rights Defense Network’s monthly roster listed Xu Lina as in custody.
Source records
- Minghui — “吉林永吉县法轮功学员徐丽娜被枉判六年入狱” (March 2, 2023). The only detailed case narrative located. It provides the biographical details, the taxi-driver incident, the detention timeline, and the six-year sentence. It is an advocacy-outlet report, not a court document; its factual claims are reported here as stated by the outlet. URL: https://www.minghui.org/mh/articles/2023/3/2/吉林永吉县法轮功学员徐丽娜被枉判六年入狱-457322.html
- CHRD Prisoners of Conscience database — 徐丽娜 (XU LI NA). Records name, sex, birth month (1973.4), hometown, detention date (2020-12-17), six-year sentence, Jilin Provincial Women’s Prison, and term end (2026-12-16). A human-rights organization’s database entry, not an official record; it cites the Minghui report above.
- Rights Defense Network / 维权网 — Monthly Report on Political Prisoners and Prisoners of Conscience, Issue 131 (August 31, 2026). Lists “Xu Lina” in the “Sentenced to 6 years” group; the report’s own Chinese edition gives 徐丽娜 at the identical roster position. Roster-level entry only — no biography.
What the record does not establish
No court verdict, judgment number, or formal charge has been located in any source. The detention and sentencing accounts rest on a single advocacy-outlet report corroborated only by a human-rights database entry citing that same report. No photograph or video of Xu Lina was located. No Chinese-government or state-media account of the case was found.
