Du Xinqin (杜欣芹) is a retired highway-bureau employee from Ankang City, Shaanxi Province, reported to have been sentenced to three years in prison as a Falun Gong practitioner. She was taken into custody by Hanbin District domestic-security police in late 2023, and the sentence was reported in December 2025. Her current detention location has not been publicly documented.
Background
Du Xinqin was born in 1951 in Ankang City, Shaanxi Province, and worked at the Ankang City Highway Bureau before retiring. She practiced Falun Gong. According to a Falun Gong-affiliated reporting outlet, she was subjected to forced “brainwashing” sessions in her early years of practice, which she says left her hearing nearly destroyed. For years, domestic-security police kept her and her family under long-term monitoring, with frequent home visits and harassment.
In May 2021, police-station and neighborhood staff came to her home and pressured her to sign a statement renouncing Falun Gong practice. On the evening of February 27, 2022, Hanbin District domestic-security police called her husband — then in his 70s and not a practitioner — to say they would come to the house the next morning. At about 8:30 on February 28, officer Zhao Silin and driver Wang Lei arrived, videotaped her, and questioned her about whose public-transportation card she used and where she had gone. She declined to answer. Between April and May 2023, domestic-security and neighborhood staff harassed her again in a series of home “visits.”
Arrest and reported sentence
In late 2023, shortly after her husband had eye surgery, Du Xinqin was taken away and placed in criminal detention by Hanbin District domestic-security police, according to the same Falun Gong-affiliated outlet. Police and political-legal personnel reportedly warned her family not to hire a lawyer or publicize the case. The outlet reported in December 2025 that she had been sentenced to three years, with the sentence running to December 2026. The charge and the detention facility were not specified in the available reports.
Status
As of the latest available evidence (December 2025), she was reported to be serving a three-year sentence. The charge, the court, and her detention location are not documented in the public record reviewed. No release has been reported.
