He Ping (何萍) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Songyuan City, Jilin Province. She was sentenced to three years in prison in 2009, and after being detained again on September 10, 2019, was sentenced to twelve years in prison in November 2020. Her recorded term runs to September 9, 2031.
Background
He, a woman, is a long-time resident of Songyuan City in Jilin Province and a practitioner of Falun Gong. Her date of birth is not publicly recorded.
The 2019 detention and twelve-year sentence
On the morning of September 10, 2019, He was taken at her residential compound by officers of the Songyuan City domestic-security division, who also searched her home. She was held in the Songyuan detention center and, 13 days later, transferred to the Songyuan detention center, where she was held for over a year. She was tried by the court of 前郭县 (Qianguo County, formerly the Guo’erluosi Mongolian Autonomous County) and sentenced to twelve years in prison in a secret trial, the verdict reached in November 2020. The Falun Dafa Information Center’s March 2021 submission to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders records her as having been sentenced to twelve years with an unknown criminal charge, and lists the Shanyou Detention Center as her last known place of detention; the submission notes that police found Falun Gong books, a computer, five mobile phones, and SIM cards in her home, reportedly used to make automated calls raising awareness of abuses against Falun Gong practitioners. The formal charge and her current place of detention are not publicly recorded.
The earlier 2009 sentence
Before the 2019 case, He had served an earlier three-year prison sentence imposed in 2009, according to both the CHRD political-prisoner database and the 追查国际 case notice.
Current status
He Ping is believed to be currently imprisoned, serving a twelve-year sentence expected to run to September 9, 2031. She appeared in the August 31, 2026 monthly roster of mainland political prisoners maintained by the Chinese-language rights monitoring network 维权网, listed in custody. No PRC court verdict or state-media coverage of her case has been located; the case record rests on the CHRD political-prisoner database entry, the 追查国际 case notice, and the Falun Dafa Information Center’s UN submission.
Not to be confused with Li Heping (李和平), the Beijing human-rights lawyer — a different surname, a different person, a different case.
