This archive preserves the documented reporting record on the case of Liu Yingjun (刘英君), a Falun Gong practitioner from Gezhenpu, Ganjingzi District, Dalian, Liaoning Province, who was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2025. He is not the PLA figure Liu Yingjun (刘英俊, 1945–1966), whose name uses different characters.
Case chronology
- May 10, 2024: Liu Yingjun was detained by police while hanging a Falun Gong banner outdoors, according to case reporting. Police searched his home, seizing cash and personal property. During the search, fellow practitioner Wang Chengmei called Liu; police located her through the call and detained her the same evening. Both were held at Dalian’s Yaojia Detention Center.
- July 2024: The Ganjingzi District Procuratorate approved the arrests of Liu and Wang.
- January–March 2025: The Ganjingzi District Court held two trial sessions, on January 9 and March 14.
- Late April 2025: The court sentenced Liu Yingjun to seven years in prison with a 100,000-yuan fine, and Wang Chengmei to one year and six months with a 20,000-yuan fine. Both appealed. The charge and the detention facility are not stated in the reporting.
