Chen Jihai (陈继海) — Media Profile & Archive

Media Profile & Archive — Chen Jihai (陈继海). This archive preserves the source chronology, provenance, and evidentiary limits of the reporting behind his Person Profile. It supports Chen Jihai (陈继海).

Person profile

Chen Jihai (陈继海) — born 1954; resident of Zhangjia Village, Erdao Township, Fengman District, Jilin City; Falun Gong practitioner seized July 19, 2019 in a coordinated Jilin City sweep; sentenced to nine years in September 2020; held at Jilin No. 2 Prison. Profile covers: the 2019 arrest alongside Song Deman, the reported nine-year sentence on an unstated charge, and the dated in-custody listings through August 2026.

Source chronology

  • 2019-07-19 — Minghui victim library; CHRD/tenchu database. Jilin City Public Security and subordinate station officers carried out a unified operation seizing Falun Gong practitioners citywide; at least 21 practitioners and 2 family members were taken, including Chen Jihai and Song Deman. Song’s separate database record (poc_s_00085) corroborates the date and pairs the two names.
  • 2020-09 — tenchu database (poc_c_00095, updated 2022-10-24). Chen sentenced to nine years; charge listed as 未知 (Unknown); placement at 吉林省第二监狱 (Jilin No. 2 Prison); recorded term end 2028-07-18. Co-defendant Song Deman received eight years, term to 2027-07-18.
  • 2020-08 — Minghui victim library (updated 2026-05-29). Says Chen and Song were transferred (“劫入”) to Jilin No. 2 Prison in August 2020 — one month before the September sentencing date given by tenchu. Minor conflict, unresolved.
  • 2021-08-31 — Rights Defense Network monthly report (维权网). Cited by tenchu as the information source for the case.
  • 2022-10-24 — CHRD/tenchu database record 1459 / poc_c_00095. Lists 陈继海 CHEN JI HAI, born 1954, Zhangjia Village resident, Falun Gong practitioner; 9-year sentence; status “有期徒刑 In prison”; charge 未知.
  • 2026-08-31 — Rights Defense Network / 维权网, Issue 131 monthly report (Chinese and English editions). Lists 陈继海 / “Chen Jihai” in the in-custody “判刑9年,48人” group. The roster classifies its entries as political prisoners and prisoners of conscience currently in custody (dated source claim).

Source grading

  • Issue 131 report (Chinese + English editions) — the roster source itself; primary for the roster equation, the Chinese-character resolution, and the 9-year sentence-group placement. High for what it lists (name, sentence group, in-custody classification as of August 31, 2026); it provides no case detail beyond the listing.
  • CHRD/tenchu prisoner database (poc_c_00095) — structured prisoner record; primary for birth year, residence, sentence length, facility, term-end date, and status. Medium-high; the term-end value and “In prison” status are database values last updated 2022-10-24, without stated sourcing.
  • Song Deman’s tenchu record (poc_s_00085) — independent co-case anchor; corroborates the July 19, 2019 sweep and the paired sentencing (Chen 9y / Song 8y). Medium-high.
  • Minghui victim library (Falun Gong-affiliated) — the only source class with sustained case coverage; used for arrest circumstances and the prison transfer. Medium for case facts; its legal characterizations (“非法”, “枉判”, “迫害”) are not adopted as this site’s own.

Conflicts and caveats

  • Sentencing/transfer timing (UNRESOLVED): tenchu says sentenced September 2020; Minghui says transferred to Jilin No. 2 Prison August 2020. Unresolved minor conflict.
  • The charge for the nine-year sentence is unknown in every located source (tenchu explicitly 未知).
  • The birth year (1954) and residence appear only in the tenchu record and Minghui library, with no official-document corroboration; graded probable.
  • The sentence-end value (2028-07-18) is a database value only, last updated October 2022; the Issue 131 roster’s August 2026 in-custody listing is the fresher custody indicator. Present whereabouts beyond the dated roster are unconfirmed.
  • Song Deman (宋德满) is a separate person (separate tenchu record, 8-year sentence) — do not merge.

Evidentiary limits

No court judgments, police records, or official Chinese government statements were located for the arrest, sentence, or custody. Primary evidence is the CHRD/tenchu structured prisoner records, the Minghui victim library, and the Issue 131 roster (August 31, 2026).
