According to Minghui, she has been repeatedly harassed and detained by local authorities since 2015 for practicing Falun Gong: seized by domestic-security police in November 2015; harassed at home in 2019; detained for 15 days in November 2019; and repeatedly pressured by judicial-office personnel to sign documents in 2020 and 2021.
2023 arrest, trial, and imprisonment
In the spring of 2023, court personnel held a trial of Sun Chengrong in her village, according to Minghui (the exact date and proceedings are stated to need further verification). In September 2023, police from the Shaqiandian police station raided her home and took her to the Fushan Detention Center in Yantai, where she was placed under criminal detention, formally arrested, and indicted. In late February 2024, she was transferred to the Shandong Provincial Women’s Prison in Jinan.
