Sun Chunhua

Sun Chunhua is a Falun Gong practitioner from Luoyang City, Henan Province. In 2025 it was reported that she had been secretly sentenced to two and a half years in prison for her faith.

According to Minghui.org, which documents cases of Falun Gong practitioners in China, Sun was first detained at her home on November 27, 2021, by officers of the Xujiaying Police Station. She was held for ten days in the Luoyang City Lockup and released on December 7, 2021.

On March 15, 2024, she was arrested again — this time by Luoyang City Domestic Security Office agents — after surveillance cameras recorded her distributing Falun Gong materials the previous day. Officers confiscated her Falun Gong books, laptop, a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, and more than 10,000 yuan in cash from her home. She was placed in the Luoyang City Detention Center, and the police never updated her family on her case status.

Her family learned of her conviction only recently, when Minghui reported it on September 3, 2025. They still did not know when she was indicted, tried, or sentenced. According to an insider cited by Minghui, Sun was emaciated after nearly a year and a half in detention.
