This archive collects source material on the case of Sun Chunhua, a Falun Gong practitioner from Luoyang City, Henan Province, who was detained in 2021 and 2024 and secretly sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
Case timeline (as reported by Minghui.org)
- November 27, 2021: Sun, then 68, is arrested at her home by Xujiaying Police Station officers. She is held for ten days in the Luoyang City Lockup (Detention House) and released on December 7, 2021.
- March 14, 2024: Surveillance cameras record Sun distributing Falun Gong flyers in Gushui; police identify her through the Luoyang big-data system.
- March 15, 2024: Luoyang City Domestic Security Office agents arrest her at home. They seize her notebook computer, a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, Falun Gong books and printouts, and more than 10,000 yuan in cash. She is held in the Luoyang City Detention Center; her family receives no updates on her case status.
- September 3, 2025: Minghui reports that Sun, now 72, has been secretly sentenced to two and a half years. Her family learned of the conviction only recently and still does not know when she was indicted, tried, or sentenced. An insider says she is emaciated after nearly a year and a half in detention.

Identity and name-collision note
“Sun Chunhua” is the name of at least three distinct Falun Gong practitioners in public reporting. This record covers the Luoyang, Henan case only (detentions 2021 and 2024; 2.5-year sentence reported 2025). Do not merge with: (a) the Sun Chunhua detained December 24–26, 2015 in Ye County/Pingdingshan, Henan with Huang Jinfeng and held ten days, with a trial reported scheduled for late June 2016 (Minghui, January 28, 2016 and Minghui, July 3, 2016); or (b) the Sun Chunhua, then 29, a teacher at Northern Jiaotong University in Beijing, husband Duan Yi, dismissed in 2000 for practicing Falun Gong, detained May 25 and sentenced to forced labor (Minghui, September 9, 2004).
