Free China Movement Launches “Prisoners Are Not Forgotten” Global Message Campaign
Goal: 100,000 messages of hope and solidarity by December 31, 2026
Free China Movement (FCM) today announced Prisoners Are Not Forgotten, a global public-action campaign inviting people around the world to choose a political prisoner and leave a message of hope, solidarity and remembrance.
The campaign’s goal is to collect 100,000 messages by the end of 2026. FCM is asking participants to amplify the effort by reposting the campaign and inviting friends, families, organizations and communities to write messages of their own.
Participants can choose among current political-prisoner profiles and write in their own language. Messages may be submitted for birthdays, Lunar New Year, Christmas & New Year, or at any time.
FCM will review submissions for safety before attempting transmission. Where a safe, credible and verified channel is available, FCM will seek to transmit appropriate messages. For people who are disappeared, incommunicado or whose whereabouts remain unknown, FCM will preserve messages of solidarity while seeking a safe channel and will not represent a submission as delivered without evidence.
“A prison sentence is designed to isolate. Disappearance is designed to make a human being vanish from public consciousness. We are asking people around the world to answer both with a simple act: choose one person, write a few words, and make sure that person is not forgotten.”
The campaign also provides privacy-conscious sharing tools. After submitting, a participant may share the campaign without revealing the submitted message, or explicitly choose to share their own message publicly. Private submissions are never automatically posted to social media.
