Zhou Jianhe / 周建和

Canonical person profile — evidence-bounded publication.

Zhou Jianhe (周建和) is a Shanghai democracy activist whose public record spans Democracy Wall-era activity and the 1998 effort to organize and register the China Democracy Party in Shanghai. Human Rights Watch identified him as a shipyard worker with earlier Democracy Wall involvement and documented the September 1998 Shanghai CDP registration effort. A contemporaneous Taiwan Mainland Affairs Council chronology separately recorded an approximately three-hour police detention on September 17, 1998. Radio Free Asia later interviewed Zhou in Washington in June 2000 as a Shanghai China Democracy Party member participating in a Tiananmen-anniversary hunger strike.

Status and evidence limits. The reviewed sources establish his Shanghai CDP activity and later presence in the United States. Exact CDP office or tenure, the complete police record for the September 1998 detention, and immigration/asylum chronology remain primary-record targets. This profile does not infer any longer custody period.
