Huang Xiaomin 黄晓敏 — People Profile

Huang Xiaomin 黄晓敏

Status: Canonical people profile; source enrichment continues.

Huang Xiaomin (黄晓敏) is a Sichuan democracy and rights activist, writer, former political prisoner and a participant in the 1998 Sichuan China Democracy Party organizing effort. Controlled sources also associate him with the Tianwang Human Rights Center and Independent Chinese PEN.

Custody record

FreeChina tracks three distinct later prison episodes rather than merging them into one continuous term: a 2009 case ending August 31, 2011; a 2017 case ending November 17, 2019; and a 2021 case with a four-year term ending May 28, 2025. Controlled rights sources report the May 28, 2025 release, and Huang’s later first-person account independently describes that date as his first day of freedom. No current custody is established.

Evidence status

The baseline includes Human Rights Watch, Chinese Human Rights Defenders, CECC, Amnesty-related documentation, PEN and rights databases. Original 1998 Sichuan CDP registration materials and legal, prison, medical and release instruments remain enrichment targets.
