Albert Ho Chun-yan (何俊仁) is a Hong Kong lawyer, former legislator, democracy advocate and former leader of the now-dissolved Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China. Public role and legal career
Associated Press describes Ho as a former lawmaker and rights lawyer known for a comparatively moderate political style. He also assisted Edward Snowden during Snowden’s 2013 stay in Hong Kong. Ho served in Hong Kong’s legislature and was a prominent figure in the Democratic Party and in rights-related legal and political work.
Hong Kong Alliance case
Ho was one of the former leaders of the Hong Kong Alliance, which organized Hong Kong’s annual June Fourth candlelight vigils for decades. He pleaded guilty in January 2026 to “inciting subversion” under Hong Kong’s National Security Law. On 11 September 2026, he was sentenced to 5 years and 2 months’ imprisonment. Human Rights Watch and Associated Press have documented his role in the same Alliance prosecution involving Chow Hang-tung and Lee Cheuk-yan.
