Forty-two Falun Gong practitioners in Langfang City and its subordinate counties and towns in Hebei Province have been arrested in recent months, and many more harassed, in a campaign directed by the Hebei provincial political-legal affairs leadership, according to a Minghui.org report published October 10, 2026. According to Minghui.org, one practitioner died days after being harassed at home.
All facts in this report come from a single source — Minghui.org — and have not been independently corroborated.
Minghui.org reports that Wang Lujin, secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Committee of the Hebei Provincial Party Committee, launched a campaign to “crack down on organized crime and gangs” whose main target is Falun Gong practitioners on the government’s blacklist. The outlet previously documented intensified persecution in Cangzhou City, Hebei, under the same directive.
The October 10 report breaks down the Langfang-area cases as follows:
Yongqing County: Ms. Wang Xiuhua was harassed at home around 9 p.m. on August 16 by three officers from the Houyi Police Station, who tried to rip down a wall decoration reading “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” According to Minghui.org, after years of persecution for her faith, Ms. Wang was traumatized by the episode; her condition worsened after the police left, her husband called an ambulance that night, and she died days later. Also in Yongqing: Ms. Wu Chunying was photographed at home on August 26; Ms. Zhang Suzhi and Ms. Liu Fengru were arrested at a fair and released the same afternoon; Ms. Zheng Shuyun and two unnamed practitioners were arrested at a fair on September 2; Ms. Liu Yali was photographed and videotaped at home on September 10; Mr. Zhao Guiqin’s home was visited on September 14; and four practitioners were harassed on September 15.
Bazhou City — 23 arrested: Ms. Yu Xiulan and 17 guests were arrested on September 15 when police broke into her home during a book study session. The same day, Nanmeng Town police targeted seven women in their 70s and 80s, arresting five; three were released that night, one the next day, and Ms. Feng Yanyun, in her 70s, remains in a local lockup.
Langfang City — 7 arrested: Ms. Zhou Yulian (arrested September 2, released that evening); Ms. Chen Jianying, 54 (arrested September 16, held in the Langfang City Detention Center); Ms. Chao Dongmei (arrested September 16, given six days of administrative detention); Ms. Chen Xueqin, 68 (arrested September 20, given five days); Ms. Zhang Xiangrong (arrested September 21 while visiting Ms. Xing Fengxian); an unnamed 66-year-old woman (arrested September 22, given ten days at the Langfang City Lockup); and Ms. Chen Shuyuan (arrested September 29).
Sanhe City — 4 arrested, 10+ harassed: Ms. Ren Chunxia (arrested August 22, placed in the Gaogezhuang Detention Center); Mr. Li Jianxin (arrested August 28, released September 12); Ms. Liu Fengying (arrested August 28, later given ten days’ detention); and Mr. Wang Zhanqing (arrested at work in mid-September, held at the Sanhe City Detention Center). More than ten practitioners have been harassed since August.
Xianghe County — 3 arrested: Ms. Cao Jin’e (arrested in late July; friends suspect she was taken back into custody to serve a 3.5-year term imposed in 2021, and her whereabouts are unknown); Ms. An Shuqin and one unnamed practitioner (arrested in early September; Ms. An has been released).
Beiwang Town: 36 practitioners were harassed between September 5 and 13.
The Free China Movement calls on the Chinese authorities to immediately release all detained practitioners and to end the harassment, arbitrary detention, and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
