Cao Zhongrong (曹中荣) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Daye city, Huangshi, Hubei province.
On the evening of March 13, 2022, police broke into his home and arrested him; he was held in the Daye detention center. Toward the end of 2022, he was sentenced to four years and three months in prison; the specific charge and the sentencing court have not been identified in publicly available sources. He was reported to have served his sentence at the Fanjatai Prison in Shayang county, Hubei.
During his imprisonment, Falun Gong documentation reported that in the summer of 2025 he was punished for speaking with fellow inmates about his beliefs and placed in a high-security unit for six months. According to the Minghui case library entry for Cao Zhongrong (updated July 18, 2026), he completed his sentence and returned home on June 12, 2026. The Rights Defense Network’s August 2026 prisoner roster carries his name in the group “Sentenced to 4 years and 3 months,” though that roster edition predates the reported release date — his current status rests on the Minghui report and has not been otherwise confirmed.
