On the evening of March 13, 2022, police broke into his home and arrested him; he was held in the Daye detention center. Toward the end of 2022 he was sentenced to four years and three months and placed in the Shayang Fanjatai Prison. - “二零二三年二月十四日大陆综合消息” — 明慧网 (Minghui.org), 2023-02-14 — section “湖北大冶市曹中荣被非法判刑四年多.” Reports that Cao Zhongrong of Daye, Hubei was sentenced to four years and three months at the end of 2022, after more than ten months in the Daye detention center following his March 13, 2022 arrest, and that he would be transferred to prison after the lunar new year. - Current status: the Minghui case library (updated 2026-07-18) reports a completed sentence and return home on June 12, 2026, while Issue 131 (dated August 31, 2026) still carries his name — the roster edition appears to have carried him from earlier data. No status is asserted beyond what the sources state.
