Chen Guolan (陈国兰), a Falun Gong practitioner from Kaili City in Guizhou Province, is serving a four-year prison sentence imposed in November 2025, according to Falun Gong-affiliated reporting, a prisoners-of-conscience database record, and an international advocacy case notice. A rights-defense roster dated August 31, 2026 lists her among reported current-custody cases in its four-year-sentence group; the database, last updated January 16, 2026, lists her as in prison with a listed release date of December 3, 2028.
Chen, born in 1964 and a native of Liping County, was reported to be living in Kaili and working at the local bedsheet factory (one account describes her as a retired teacher). She has been detained repeatedly since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999: a three-year forced-labor term in 2005, a one-year-nine-month term beginning September 2006, and another three-year term beginning in 2007 — each, according to the reports, cut short or endured despite serious illness.
Her current term began on December 4, 2024, when police from the Kaili public-security political-security unit seized her on her way home, searched her home, and placed her under 15-day detention with a 1,000-yuan fine — after she had been reported on September 8 for distributing Falun Gong materials, the reports say. She was not released when the detention expired; she was arrested on January 21, 2025, indicted by the Kaili procuratorate that March, and tried by the Kaili City Court on July 15, 2025. On November 12, 2025 she was sentenced to four years in prison with a 10,000-yuan fine. She appealed; in February 2026 the Qiandongnan Intermediate Court rejected the appeal and upheld the sentence, according to the case notice.
