Cheung Kim-hung — Next Digital CEO and Apple Daily Political Prisoner

Cheung Kim-hung is the former chief executive of Next Digital Limited, Apple Daily’s parent company, and is currently imprisoned in Hong Kong.

CPJ reports that Cheung was sentenced on February 9, 2026 to 6 years 9 months for conspiracy to collude with foreign forces after pleading guilty in 2022. CPJ says he was arrested on June 16, 2021 and has remained behind bars since then.
