Reuters and AP reported that on September 11, 2026 she was sentenced to seven years and three months for inciting subversion in the Hong Kong Alliance case. Chow Hang-tung is a Hong Kong human-rights lawyer, former vice-chairperson of the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China, and long-time June Fourth vigil organizer. Amnesty International documents her detention from September 2021 and national-security prosecution connected to Alliance activities.
Amnesty reported in August 2026 that Hong Kong’s High Court convicted Chow Hang-tung (鄒幸彤) and Lee Cheuk-yan (李卓人) of “inciting subversion of state power.” On 11 September 2026, Chow was sentenced to 7 years 3 months and Lee to 7 years. The case record now treats sentencing as complete but keeps release/completion dates under verification pending the operative legal treatment of time served and any appeals.
