Chu Xinyu

Chu Xinyu, a church member and volunteer worker with the Home Discipleship Network (门训家园网), an online house-church preaching platform based in Dalian, Liaoning Province, was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment on January 12, 2024. She was detained with five others — pastor Kan Xiaoyong, his wife Wang Fengying, and church members Zhao Qianjiao, Zhang Song’ai, and Liang Dongzhi — when police raided the couple’s Dalian home on October 20, 2021.

The Ganjingzi District People’s Court in Dalian convicted all six of “organizing or using a cult [superstition] to undermine the implementation of the laws” and illegal business operations. Kan received 14 years, Wang four years, Chu ten years, and the other three members three years each. A fraud charge against the group was not established. All defense lawyers were appointed by the authorities, and allegations by Kan and Wang that Dalian police tortured them to extract confessions were raised in court but not acted upon, according to Radio Free Asia.

The Congressional-Executive Commission on China’s Political Prisoner Database carries a record for Chu Xinyu (record 2024-00094). She appears in the Rights Defense Network’s Issue 131 monthly report (August 31, 2026) among the reported current-custody political and conscience prisoners.
