Han Dongfang was a railway worker and a prominent participant in Beijing’s autonomous workers’ movement in 1989. Later sources identify him with the Beijing Workers’ Autonomous Federation, but the exact founding chronology, formal title and term boundaries remain under source-by-source review. After imprisonment and expulsion from mainland China, he became a long-term labor-rights advocate and founded China Labour Bulletin in 1994.
