Jiang Tianyong (江天勇) — Human-Rights Lawyer and Former Political Prisoner

Current classification: released / not currently known imprisoned. Jiang completed his two-year sentence in 2019. Later surveillance and movement restrictions are documented, but P1 does not project older restrictions into 2026 without fresh evidence.

Recent status evidence

On September 16, 2025, Jiang was taken away in Changsha while meeting the family of detained student Zhang Yadi to provide legal assistance. ChinaAid reported him missing that day; later rights reporting said he had been released. P1 therefore records this as a dated temporary police-control/disappearance episode, not current imprisonment.

709 and earlier imprisonment

Jiang was disappeared in 2016, convicted in 2017 of “inciting subversion of state power,” sentenced to two years, and released in 2019. Rights organizations documented post-release surveillance and restrictions.
