Yeung Ching-kee — Apple Daily Editorial Writer and Political Prisoner

Yeung Ching-kee, who wrote under the pen name Li Ping, is the former lead editorial writer of Apple Daily and is currently imprisoned in Hong Kong.

Apple Daily case

CPJ reports that Yeung was sentenced on February 9, 2026 to 7 years 3 months for conspiracy to collude with foreign forces after pleading guilty in 2022. CPJ says he was imprisoned again on July 21, 2021 and has remained behind bars since then.
