Zion Church Eight: Custody, Charges, and Delayed Trial Status

The Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC) reported on August 20, 2026 that eight Zion Church members remained in custody: Gao Yingjia (高颖佳), Lin Shucheng (林书铖), Liu Zhenbin (刘桢彬), Wang Cong (王聪), Wang Lin (王林), Wang Zhong (汪中), Wu Qiuyu (吴秋雨), and Yin Huibin (尹会彬).

CECC reported that the eight were held across Beihai No. 1 and No. 2 Public Security Bureau detention centers. The public source does not map each person to one facility, so this record makes no individual assignment. Charges were changed in June 2026 to fraud and/or illegal business operations, and the procuratorate transferred the case to the Yinhai District People’s Court in July.

Hearings were reportedly scheduled for August 14–18, 2026. Later reporting said the trial was delayed after defense lawyers objected that they lacked sufficient time to review the files. A conflicting report claimed that a trial occurred; therefore, this record does not state that a completed trial or verdict has been verified. Family health concerns remain attributed reporting, not independent medical findings.
