Purpose

Help Free China Movement improve multilingual search, taxonomy, aliases/transliterations, metadata, internal linking and content discovery across its research, news, historical and human-rights archives.

Core responsibilities

  • Design and test multilingual search and discovery workflows.
  • Build controlled aliases, transliterations, alternate spellings and organization abbreviations.
  • Improve taxonomy, metadata, internal links and search QA.
  • Document search gaps, false positives and language-scoping limitations.
  • Coordinate with research, publishing and translation volunteers.

Qualifications

  • Experience with information architecture, search, taxonomy, libraries, content systems or structured research.
  • Strong attention to naming consistency and evidence provenance.
  • English required; Chinese helpful. Other languages are welcome.
  • WordPress, metadata, SEO, data or knowledge-management experience is preferred.

Time and reporting

Flexible volunteer commitment. Works with the Website / Operations lead and relevant research teams. Work may be reviewed on a 30/60/90-day basis.

Privacy and ethics

Follow FCM privacy, security, source-verification, conflict-of-interest and public-conduct standards. Access to sensitive research or contact data is granted only as needed.
