Purpose
Help Free China Movement improve multilingual search, taxonomy, aliases/transliterations, metadata, internal linking and content discovery across its research, news, historical and human-rights archives.
Core responsibilities
- Design and test multilingual search and discovery workflows.
- Build controlled aliases, transliterations, alternate spellings and organization abbreviations.
- Improve taxonomy, metadata, internal links and search QA.
- Document search gaps, false positives and language-scoping limitations.
- Coordinate with research, publishing and translation volunteers.
Qualifications
- Experience with information architecture, search, taxonomy, libraries, content systems or structured research.
- Strong attention to naming consistency and evidence provenance.
- English required; Chinese helpful. Other languages are welcome.
- WordPress, metadata, SEO, data or knowledge-management experience is preferred.
Time and reporting
Flexible volunteer commitment. Works with the Website / Operations lead and relevant research teams. Work may be reviewed on a 30/60/90-day basis.
Privacy and ethics
Follow FCM privacy, security, source-verification, conflict-of-interest and public-conduct standards. Access to sensitive research or contact data is granted only as needed.
