Media Profile & Archive — Cui Xiuju (崔秀菊)

Source chronology, document references, and provenance for the profile of Cui Xiuju, a Falun Gong practitioner from Longkou City, Shandong. The canonical profile is published separately; this archive preserves what each source says, when it said it, and where the record conflicts or runs thin. All dated claims below are source-attributed; nothing about her present circumstances is inferred.

Identity note. This archive covers one person only: 崔秀菊, the Longkou practitioner in her seventies arrested July 17, 2025, held at the Yantai City Detention Center, tried January 23, 2026, and sentenced March 13, 2026 to 3 years 9 months. A different same-name person appears in a year-2000 record from Dianbai County, Guangdong — see caveats.

Documented custody chronology

  • July 17, 2025 — arrest. Ms. Cui Xiuju, around 70, was arrested at the Dawang (Xufudawang) Fair in Longkou City by plainclothes officers while talking to people about Falun Gong. Her home was raided; Falun Gong books and the portrait of the practice’s founder were seized. She was taken to the Yantai City Detention Center around 11 p.m. and has been held there since (Minghui, September 5, 2025; March 31, 2026). The same sweep detained at least 11 other practitioners; most were released within days to two weeks — Cui, Luan Yanping, Li Yufang, and Liu Haiyan remained in custody.
  • August 8, 2025 — formal arrest approved. Official arrest warrant issued; the three main practitioners (Cui, Luan, Li) placed under formal arrest (Minghui, August 27, 2025; WOIPFG notice, September 2025).
  • August 18, 2025 — investigation submitted. Officer Guo Fudui of the Longkou City Police Department’s domestic-security office completed the investigation and submitted the case to the Longkou City Procuratorate (Minghui, January 31, 2026).
  • August 22, 2025 — indictment. Prosecutor Lyu Shasha (吕莎莎) indicted Cui and forwarded the case to the Longkou City Court, four days after receipt — before the family defenders’ power-of-attorney requests were accepted (Minghui, January 31, 2026; WOIPFG, February 2026). Families had been told on August 20 that the procuratorate had “not received” the case, and on August 22 arrived with signed powers of attorney only to be told the case had already moved to the court.
  • September 3, 2025 — court filing. The Longkou City Court accepted the cases of five practitioners (Cui, Luan Yanping, Li Yufang, Liu Haiyan, Wu Fengzhen) (WOIPFG, February 2026).
  • January 23, 2026 — trial. Longkou City Court; presiding judge Zhao Yu, assigned judge Chi Ya’nan. Only two family members of each defendant admitted. The handcuff-removal request was denied (“detention center guards put them on; we don’t have the keys”). Judge Zhao interrupted the family defenders, barred them from questioning defendants, and refused to admit defense evidence. The prosecutor presented no physical items and called no witnesses (Minghui, January 31 and February 16, 2026).
  • March 13, 2026 — conviction and sentence. Cui Xiuju sentenced to three years and nine months in prison and fined 20,000 yuan. All three defendants appealed to the Yantai City Intermediate Court (Minghui, March 31, 2026).

Health and detention conditions (source-attributed)

When her lawyer visited, Cui had persistently high blood pressure (systolic 180–190), accompanied by dizziness, a muddle-headed feeling, and memory loss. Guards strictly limited time for meals and showers, and fellow detainees isolated, detested, and verbally abused her for being slow (Minghui, January 31, 2026; September 5, 2025). These details come from Minghui’s reporting of the lawyer’s account; no independent medical record is available.

Officials and institutions named in the sources

Police: Longkou City Public Security Bureau domestic-security (政保) brigade; officer Guo Fudui (郭福兑); Xinjia Police Station (also involved in the wider sweep). Prosecution: Longkou City Procuratorate; prosecutor Lyu Shasha (吕莎莎). Court: Longkou City Court; presiding judge Zhao Yu; judge Chi Ya’nan. Custody: Yantai City Detention Center. The WOIPFG February 2026 notice additionally names higher-level officials (Longkou City political-legal committee secretary Sun Shaojun; Longkou PSB chief Xing Bin) as investigation targets — these attributions are the WOIPFG’s own and are preserved as such.

Minghui.org, year-2000 report on Maoming-region persecution (namesake record only) — http://projectshield.en.minghui.org/html/articles/2000/12/25/3773.html — names “Cui Xiuju, female, 39, from Xiadong Town of Dianbai County” sentenced to 2 years’ labour camp. Not this person; preserved only as a disambiguation anchor.

Conflicts and caveats

  • Same-name record (2000, Guangdong). The year-2000 report’s Cui Xiuju (39, Dianbai County, Guangdong, 2-year labour-camp term) cannot be the Longkou Cui (would have been ~44 at 2025 arrest, and was ~70 per all 2025–2026 sources). Held as a different person; never merged.
  • Fair name variants. Sources say “Dawang Fair” and “Xufudawang Community Fair” — treated as the same location, rendered as both in the archive.
  • Exact charge wording. No cited source states the formal charge against Cui verbatim. For co-defendant Li Yufang, Minghui (August 15, 2025) reported detention for “undermining law enforcement,” the standard Falun Gong prosecution framing. The body does not assert a specific charge article for Cui; this remains UNRESOLVED.
  • Health and abuse details rest on Minghui’s account of the lawyer’s visit; no independent medical or detention record is cited. Presented as reported, not as independently verified fact.
  • WOIPFG official-roster attributions (political-legal committee, police chief) are the organization’s own investigation targets, preserved as such — not independently corroborated.

Evidentiary limitations

  • No appeal outcome (Yantai City Intermediate Court) has been found in public sources as of September 24, 2026. Current custody location is unknown.
  • No birth year, home address, family details, or prior custody history for Cui has been located.
  • No coverage found in CHRD, Weiquanwang, ChinaAid, HRW, Amnesty, CECC, Dui Hua, HRIC, or RFA for this case — the evidentiary base is Falun Gong–community sources (Minghui, WOIPFG), which the reader should weigh accordingly.
