Person profile: Deng Wanying (邓万英)
Media Profile & Archive — Deng Wanying (邓万英). This archive preserves the source basis, identification method, and evidentiary limits behind the Person Profile. It supports Deng Wanying (邓万英).
Person profile
Deng Wanying (邓万英) — Falun Gong practitioner from Luzhou City, Sichuan Province; arrested August 21, 2019; sentenced early August 2021 to nine years with a 50,000-yuan fine by the Lu County Court; appeal denied November 25, 2021; reported transferred to Longquan Women’s Prison (Sichuan Province Women’s Prison, Longquanyi, Chengdu); listed in the Issue 131 roster (August 31, 2026) as a reported current political prisoner.
Identification method
The Issue 131 roster’s English edition lists “Deng Wanying” with no Chinese characters. Two lines of evidence identify her as 邓万英:
- Issue 131 Chinese edition (positional). The Chinese↔English A–Z pinyin index matches position-for-position: 邓万英 sits between 张鹏 and 蔡玉英 in the 判刑9年 group, exactly where the English edition lists “Zhang Peng, Deng Wanying, Cai Yuying” in the 48-person 9-year group. This is the basis for the Chinese-character identification.
- Minghui.org (English), September 10, 2021 — “Four Sichuan Residents Sentenced to Prison After Two Years of Detention.” Documents a “Ms. Deng Wanying,” Luzhou City, Sichuan, Falun Gong practitioner and store owner, arrested August 21, 2019, tried three times at Lu County Court, and sentenced in early August 2021 to nine years — the same name, same city, same 9-year sentence as the roster entry.
- Falun Dafa Information Center, January 2023 — “Luzhou City, Sichuan Province: Sixteen Residents Remain Incarcerated for Their Faith.” Independently repeats the same four-person case (arrests August 2 / August 21, 2019; Lu County Domestic Security), the same sentences and fines (Deng: 9 years, 50,000 yuan), and adds that Deng was transferred to Longquan Women’s Prison.
The nine-year sentence is the decisive anchor: only one Luzhou Lu County prosecution carries it. This is a roster-to-case match, not a name-similarity merge.
Source chronology
- August 2, 2019 — Gou Zhengqiong arrested by Lu County Domestic Security officers. (Minghui)
- August 21, 2019 — Deng Wanying, Lei Huanying, and Luo Taihui arrested; all three described as store owners. (Minghui)
- July 13, 2020 — First hearing at Lu County Court; families barred from attending, even from the lobby live stream. Lawyers flagged police procedural violations (no uniforms, no IDs, no search warrants, no confiscation lists; over 40 witnesses listed, none cross-examined). (Minghui)
- September 15, 2020 — Second hearing; prosecutor updated the indictment with additional copies of materials allegedly distributed. Lawyers argued the new video evidence showed no illegal activity. (Minghui)
- February 2, 2021 — Third hearing; family members allowed to attend for the first time in 1.5 years. Two lawyers demanded acquittal; the judge said there was no way for him to do that. (Minghui)
- Early August 2021 — Convictions: Deng Wanying 9 years, Lei Huanying 5 years, Luo Taihui 3 years 6 months, Gou Zhengqiong 3 years, with fines of 50,000 / 20,000 / 10,000 / 5,000 yuan. (Minghui)
- November 25, 2021 — Luzhou City Intermediate Court upholds all four verdicts on appeal. (Minghui, April 23, 2023 persecution-news roundup)
- 2022–2023 — Deng transferred to Longquan Women’s Prison. Gou Zhengqiong and Luo Taihui released after serving their terms. (Falun Dafa Information Center, January 2023; Minghui, April 23, 2023)
- August 31, 2026 — Rights Defense Network / 维权网, Issue 131 monthly report (1,638 reported current-custody cases) lists “Deng Wanying” / 邓万英 in the 判刑9年 group. Coherent with custody: a person sentenced in August 2021 to nine years would be in custody on this date.
Source grading
- Minghui.org, September 10, 2021 — advocacy outlet reporting, single lineage; read directly (full article). Detailed, internally consistent case record with named courts and dates. Grade: source-attributed, partially unverified.
- Falun Dafa Information Center, January 2023 — advocacy aggregation explicitly “based on an original report from Minghui.org”; read directly. Corroborates sentences, fines, and co-defendant identities, and adds the prison-transfer detail. Same lineage as Minghui, not a second independent source. Grade: source-attributed, partially unverified.
- Issue 131 roster — listing evidence only; supplies the current-custody classification (dated 2026-08-31) and the Chinese character form, not case details.
Conflicts and caveats
- No conflict on any material fact; all case details agree across the located sources.
- Two Falun Gong advocacy outlets share a single evidentiary lineage (Minghui → Falun Dafa Information Center). There is no independent second lineage for the case facts, and no court judgment, official statement, or family testimony has been located.
- The Chinese character form 邓万英 rests on the Issue 131 Chinese edition’s positional match, not on a Chinese-language case report — no Chinese-language case source was indexed. If a primary document gives a different form, the profile must be corrected.
- The prison is named “Longquan Women’s Prison” in the January 2023 report and “Sichuan Province Women’s Prison” in the April 2023 Minghui roundup; these refer to the same facility at Longquanyi, Chengdu (龙泉驿女子监狱).
Evidentiary limits
No age, household registration address, or prior case history for Deng Wanying is documented in the located sources. Present-day status beyond the dated roster listing (August 31, 2026) and the 2021–2023 reports is not independently confirmed; nothing is asserted beyond those dates. No release or sentence-end date is computed or asserted.
