Gao Menghua (郜孟花) — Media Profile & Archive

This archive collects verified media and documentary records concerning Gao Menghua (郜孟花), a retired grain-system worker from Cao County, Shandong Province, who was taken into custody in August 2025 to serve a four-year sentence imposed in 2021.

Case record

The CHRD Prisoners of Conscience database records: 郜孟花, female, born 1950, of Cao County, Heze City, Shandong; retired employee of the Cao County grain system; Falun Gong practitioner. Sentenced to 4 years by the Cao County court in August 2021 but not taken into custody; taken into custody mid-August 2025 and transferred to the Shandong Provincial Women’s Prison (Jinan), term to August 2029. Charge and facility details beyond the prison name are listed as unknown.

Reporting

Minghui (November 26, 2025) reported that Gao, then about 75, had been sentenced to four years by the Cao County court in August 2021 without being taken into custody, and was seized in mid-August 2025 to serve the sentence at the Shandong Provincial Women’s Prison in Jinan. The report recounts her earlier history: a 2000 labor-reeducation term, a 2005 detention, a secret 2006 four-year sentence (initially refused admission by the prison for health reasons), a March 2020 detention followed by bail, and a June 2020 detention during which she was released the same night after a medical check. Minghui is a Falun Gong-run outlet; its account is presented as reported and has not been independently corroborated by non-advocacy sources.

2010 item — linkage note

A December 2010 Minghui English roundup reports that “Ms. Gao Menghua” was taken from her home in Cao County, Shandong, on December 4, 2010, by police officer Wang Xia and others. This appears to describe the same person — Cao County, Shandong, Falun Gong, and the CHRD database itself renders 郜孟花 as “Gao Menghua” — and the same officer name appears in Gao’s documented 2005 detention. But the 2010 item is English-only (no Chinese characters) and the 2025 biographical report does not list a 2010 detention, so the linkage is strongly consistent but not proven; it is recorded here as related, not as primary identity evidence.

Evidentiary limitations

  • The charge is unspecified in all available sources.
  • The reason for the 2021–2025 non-custody gap is unknown.
  • The 2010 item’s same-person linkage is unproven and recorded as related, not as evidence of identity.
  • No official judgment document or state-media record was found in a bounded search.
  • No non-advocacy source has corroborated the case; Minghui’s characterizations of the proceedings (e.g., “illegal”, “unjust”) are its own, not independently adopted findings.
  • The surname is 郜, not 高; a 2024 Hong Kong activist lead under 高梦华 is a different, uncorroborated record and is not attached to this case.
